Privacy Policy

www.bounceinsurance.co.nz is owned by Bounce Insurance Limited (“Bounce”) and operated by Bounce and its affiliates and contracting third parties (collectively, “Bounce”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

At Bounce, we take our privacy obligations very seriously. Our customers entrust us with their information, and we protect this information as if it were our own.

This Privacy Statement sets out how we deal with your personal information. It describes what information we collect, what we do with the information we collect, and under what circumstances we would disclose this information and for what purposes.

This document should be read alongside our Terms of Service. By using our website and/or Services, you are declaring that you understand and agree to the terms of this policy.

What information do we collect?

We may collect personally identifiable information when you specifically and knowingly provide it to us, for example when you register an account or submit an application and provide us your name, address, email address and similar personal information; when you provide your credit card or other financial information; or when you contact us with your name, address, or email address.

You may always choose not to provide personal information, but if you so choose, some or all of the Services may not be available to you including the ability to submit an application.

Note that personally identifiable information we collect and your User content may be stored and processed in New Zealand or any other country in which we or our affiliates, subsidiaries, contractors or agents maintain facilities; by using the Services, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country and acknowledge that some of these countries may not have an equivalent level of data protection as New Zealand.

When you use the Services, Bounce, or third parties on our behalf, may collect information via the use of add-ons, extensions, pixels, programs, cookies and other similar technologies.

That information can include a website that referred you to us, your IP address, browser type and language, hardware types, geographic location, and access times and durations. We also may collect navigational information, including information about the Service content or pages you view, the links you click, and other actions taken in connection with the Service. We use this information to improve some of the online services available through our website.

Cookies

Cookies, for example, are pieces of information that are transferred to an individual's hard drive for record-keeping purposes. They are used to assist you in using site information and content by saving your user preferences which allows us to identify registered users and save you time by eliminating the need to repeatedly enter the same information. They are also used to collect aggregate information about users on an anonymous basis. In addition to cookies, we may use other technologies, including single-pixel gifs (also known as web beacons) on our websites and in promotional e-mail messages or newsletters. These electronic images assist us in determining how many users have visited certain pages or opened messages or newsletters. We do not use these single-pixel gifs to collect personal information.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser setting (or in the case of Flash Cookies, you Flash Player settings) to decline cookies or to request your permission each time a service attempts to set a cookie. Please be aware that the site is optimally designed to operate with cookies enabled in your internet browser. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to sign in or use other interactive features of the Services that depend on cookies.

Do Not Track Signals

What do we do with the information that we collect?

Except as disclosed in this privacy policy, Bounce does not share your personal information with any outside parties.

  • to provide the Services to you
  • to operate, maintain, and improve the Services
  • to manage your account, including to communicate with you regarding your account
  • to respond to your comments and questions and to provide customer service
  • to send information including technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages
  • to send you marketing e-mails about upcoming promotions, and other news, including information about products and services offered by us and our affiliates or other third parties. You may opt-out of receiving such information at any time: such marketing emails tell you how to “opt-out.” You may also opt-out by contacting support@bounceinsurance.co.nz. Please note, even if you opt out of receiving marketing emails, we may still send you non-marketing emails. Non-marketing emails include emails about your account with us (if you have one) and our business dealings with you
  • to improve customer experience and train our staff
  • to process payments you make via the Services, and
  • as we believe necessary or appropriate (a) to comply with applicable laws; (b) to comply with lawful requests and legal process, including to respond to requests from public and government authorities; (c) to enforce our Policy; and (d) to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and/or that of you or others.

We may share this information with service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as processing information requests, displaying stored data you access, to assist us in marketing, to conduct audits, etc.

Disclosure

As a general rule, Bounce will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information or your User content except under one of the following circumstances: we have your permission; we determine in good faith that it is legally required to be revealed by any relevant legislation, regulation, ordinance, rule, administrative or court order, information that we determine must be disclosed to correct what we believe to be false or misleading information or to address activities that we believe to be manipulative, deceptive or otherwise a violation of law; where you are otherwise notified at the time we collect the data; in order to provide the product or service you have requested; when such disclosure is made subject to confidentiality restrictions in connection with a sale, merger, transfer, exchange, or other disposition (whether of assets, stock, or otherwise) of all or a portion of the business conducted by Bounce. Bounce may share non-personally identifiable information that Bounce gathers or creates, in aggregate form only, with advertisers and other partners.

Social network applications

The Services may allow you to elect to access the data on your profile in social networks, and to interact through features on the social networks. If so, this access is not activated automatically, but require express authorisation by you to allow us to obtain information about you that is available on the social network, as well as to interact with our account. Security and encryption

We follow generally accepted industry standards to help protect your personal information. No method of transmission over the internet, mobile technology, or method of electronic storage, is completely secure. Therefore, while we endeavour to maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the confidentiality of the information that we collect online, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure (for example, if you feel that the security of any account you might have with us has been compromised), please immediately notify us of the problem by contacting us at support@bounceinsurance.co.nz.

All credit cards, debit cards or bank account information submitted by you is securely processed directly with Stripe.com and is stored using application level Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 128-bit encryption over secure HTTPS connections. None of our company’s internal servers are able to view or obtain plaintext card numbers.

Changes to this privacy statement

We reserve the right to change the terms of this privacy policy at any time. When we make changes, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of the policy. If there are material changes to this statement or in how we will use your personal information, we will notify you by prominently posting a notice of such changes here or on our home page, or by sending you an email. We encourage you to review this policy whenever you visit one of our sites.

To request access to, or to make changes to, data hold about you, email us atsupport@bounceinsurance.co.nz. You also have the ability to access and update some information directly in our system by logging into our customer portal.
